4-13-23 THOUGHTS
Two verses from last night’s study of Hosea set our thinking this morning.
Hos 6:3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
Hos 10:12 Sow with a view to righteousness, Reap in accordance with kindness; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD Until He comes to rain righteousness on you.
Any time is time to seek the Lord! “Let us PRESS ON TO KNOW THE LORD”! Some passages to help us relate to this theme.
John 7:15-17 The Jews then were astonished, saying, "How has this man become learned, having never been educated?" 16 So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 "If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. [this is learning from doing...]
John 17:3 "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Prov 2:1-5 My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you, 2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding; 3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; 4 If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God.
Acts 17:10-11 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
Php 3:13-15 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;
Heb 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
2Pet 1:19 [So] we have the prophetic word [made] more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.
My Prayer:
Please help us, O God, to give our due diligence in seeking to know You with our whole heart. Give us a nobility that causes us to receive Your word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see Your way and Your truth. Help the vision of Your majestic Glory to arise in our hearts, that we may cling to You, and seek Your presence continually. With such a view planted in our hearts, we should be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Help us here, Father. Especially remove us from the seeking of self. We seek your help to grow into You, O Lord. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
